Coach You? Gesundheit! Terry Withers…

#1
…is an exceptionally polite coach who performs with the UCB Harold Team Robber Baron and the indie team SMIRK. I’ve studied under Zach Woods, Joe Wengert, Charlie Todd, Anthony King, Erik Tanouye, Michael Delaney, Will Hines, Chris Gethard and Armando Diaz. I’ve also been coached extensively by Kevin Hines and Russ Armstrong.

Sure, I’m a fantastic substitute, but I’d be a great permanent coach for your group too. I’ll coach you on game, I’ll coach you on long form structures, I’ll coach you on object work. You name it and I’ll coach it.

My schedule is about to become preposterously wide open. Email me.

This guy blows my mind every time he's on stage. He may play some of the creepiest characters in the world but his play is brilliant.

Hire him.

Here's the thing. I've had plenty great coaches, but ain't nobody impressed me as much as Terry. I've had more than one personal break through in a short time and my group made huge strides in just the first session. This here is real.

Your team would do well to snatch Terry up before he's all booked. He's not available on Mondays from 7-10pm, justsoyouknow.

I defy you to find a coach more invested in a group's well-being. Terry is an outstanding, thoughtful coach who gives notes that will paint the wall with your brain, but what makes him amazing is more than that. He clearly deeply cares about the success of the group, both in creating good scenes and achieving long term goals.

I've had a fair number of coaches, and loved quite a few, but I don't know that any have impressed me like Terry has. If you don't book him, go fuck yourself.

Let me ask you this question. What about weekdays? Do you ever improvise then? You could. I could coach you. What about that? I mean, other times could work too. But what about weekdays? Don't forget to contact me about weekdays. It's a huge part of the week.

Terry is an incredible coach! My team, Secret Man Group, can't imagine having any other coach. Terry's made us all better improvisers, both individually and as a group, and he's also a really nice guy. That's the Terry Withers Guarantee.

After improvising with Terry for three years, I can hardly think of anyone with more natural talent for creating surprising, genuine, and hilariously funny moments on stage. Terry's a perceptive and dedicated individual who will care as much about your improv as you do, and even cause you to care more about it than you do now. Abandon your plans to rotate through coaches in alphabetical order, because once you hit W you'll realize your plan was awful. You should have gone with Terry from the start.

Terry coached my 101 practice group with less than 12 hours notice!

He's supportive, open to discussion, well-prepared and on time. Probably my favorite thing about the session was Terry's willingness to call us out on bullshit and then use it as a learning opportunity.

Hire this man/beast.

I have recently had the pleasure of starting a team with Terry and playing with him is such a joy! He makes it feel easy, he makes it look easy, and he does it all while being generous to his scene partners and out and our hilarious!

I have also had the pleasure of subbing in as a coach for some of Terry's teams, and the work he does with them is amazing. Terry is constantly challenging his teams to build new forms, stretch their imaginations, and find new and interesting ways to become better players and stronger teams. His teams love him and I love him!

HIRE THIS MAN!!!

Terry is honestly a great coach. READ ON...

Terry was the coach of one of my practice groups about 6 months ago and it was a great experience.

Why? You ask. Because he gave the notes that the scene needed, while still keeping the energy of the room positive. He's really good at game and great at explain it. If game is something you want to get better at, Terry will definitely help. Do you not understand pattern game? Well, I used to not understand/like pattern game. I now love it, after being coached by Terry. He broke it down very simply, which taught the group how to get what we want out of it. There are other great things he can do. Those are just some examples of how I grew as an improviser, due to Terry's coaching.

Plus, he's very patient. He's very passionate about improv. When he was our coach, I felt like he really wanted to be there. That is not always the case with coaches. You can't put a price on that.

He has a great coaching style. If you're looking for a coach, hire him.

I want to second this review. Terry's a great coach because he's in it for the long haul. He doesn't just give you notes on the last set you did and call it a day -- he invests himself in your long term development as a group, which is invaluable. Terry Withers is a fantastic coach!

Terry has been coaching my team for a long time now, and we have benefitted so much from his dedication, positive energy, and generous attention. Plus, he's pretty much a genius...

You know who's not a genius? Anyone who doesn't hire Terry as a coach.
