Hello improvisers!!
My name is Krista and I will coach you. Here's what I'm about...
I like FUN improv! Let's get out of our heads, find our games and IMPRESS OURSELVES! I see so much improv that looks and feels tedious; when I ask my friends fresh off their sets: "hey, was that a fun set?" and they say NO! Don't let this happen to you. You're in it for the fun of it (right?) so let's work together to get those evil gremlins out of your brain and prevent them from laying neggs (negative eggs) in there!
Let's make active choices!! Get up and resist the urge to sit! Chairs can be crutches in improv, ie: they are used sometimes to hind behind, and immediately cause the scene to get stagnant. This is, of course, unless you end up flipping a chair, in which case the scene is now automatically PHENOMENAL.
Be you! Be you, doing great improv! We all have brands. If you want me to watch your group perform and let you know if you are ALWAYS playing the same character unintentionally, I will watch for this. If you want me to watch your team do group games and let you know what can make them more cohesive, I will do this. If each individual member gives me a goal that they have, I will watch you and let you know how each can work on this skill. I am flexible! (coachily, not bodily)
I have directed improv for 2 years and have been performing this darling art form for 7 years. In 2010 I wrote sketches and performed Improv in Florida before moving to NYC and joining the UCB. I am currently on a bunch of indie teams, creating a webseries and podcast and taking as many 501's as I can get my sweaty hands on.
I charge $20 an hour and will coach any group of any size, at any level. Let's pet this puppy.
