Cheap Union Square Food

#1
Quick, cheap eats around 15th and Irving that is not Food Emporium Sushi but could be brought into a bar if necessary.

Go!

I like the scalion pancakes in Zen palate, that's by 17th st. on Union Sq. I also like Sicilian pizza that's in this place with a red on-ing on 14th St. a bit east of Union Square.

I would like to issue a new location-based challenge, but I'm too tired.

Come on, spill it. Brought into a bar? Not sushi? What gives?

Are you a cop on a stakeout, trying to bust the big coke ring operating out of the Union Square Cafe bar? Pouring drinks at Bowlmor to support yourself while you finish your masters thesis arguing against grocery store sushi?

Alright here's the story:

Union Square is where I meet a friend of mine for random happy hours. By random I mean, I get or place the call at 4:30pm, leaving me no time to eat between the office and the bar. During the time confines of happy hour, this specific friend and I drink ourselves ridonkulous. I have learned over time that doing this on an empty stomach leads to pain and for some reason, I end up drinking more in Williamsburg and no one wants that. If I eat something beforehand, I end up delicately soused and I go home at a decent hour.

If I eat a dirty water dog, it hurts my tummy. Usually, I grab some sushi from the Food Emporium, conveniently located in the center of our usual haunts.

I was trying to mix it up a bit.

I sound like a 22 year old frat boy.

$4 veggie sandwich at the deli on the northeast corner of the park. Ask them to toast the roll and put honey mustard on it. (veggie sandwich includes 3 types of cheese, avocado, l & t).

There's also City Crepe on 18th b/w park & bway, Giorgio's Pizza on the east side of the park b/w 16th & 17th, and if you're in the mood for a walk, go to 6 & 12 on 6th ave b/w 11th & 12th. They have tasty dumplings that they steam for you on the spot.
