Brass Taxes specializes in taxes for freelancers and improvisors. (I am both of these)

If you're trying to make profit or want to make a profit, you can deduct all those expenses. Those improv classes, headshots, rooms, coaches, whatever you spent, you deduct. I know all those areas to help you save money, or get more money back. I can also help you plan so upcoming years are easier and less stressful.
If you make a profit, you need to pay tax on that, after we deduct all your expenses. I bet you forgot some and I'll jog your memory.
Most people save money by having me do their taxes instead of doing themselves on Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax is made for employees, not freelancers and improvisors who are basically their own business. It's made to be simple to use but it's not made for our situation. Taxes for us are too complicated for a simple Q&A to get them done.
H&R Block sounds cheap based on their commercials, but ask someone who's gone. Every paper you hand them, they add a charge. When you hand them your student loan interest paper: add $18.00, for them typing in 1 number. This is how they pay for all those ads and buildings.
Check out my site about making an appointment, what to bring, and what people think about me.

Some words from others:
"I work as a producer at The Colbert Report as well as doing some freelance writing and producing. I’ve been doing my own taxes for the past couple years and never really felt like I was doing it right. Rus patiently guided me through the tax process and finally made me feel like I was doing taxes like a grown-up!"
--Gabe Gronli, The Colbert Report and freelance writer
"I’m a staff writer for The Onion News Network, and I also do occasional freelance gigs on the side for which I get 1099s. In the past I’ve always gone to H&R Block for my taxes but this year, due to a series of fascinating coincidences I won’t get into, I went with Rus. He charged about the same amount as H&R Block, but the experience with was far more personal and enjoyable. Rus met me at my office, took care of my paperwork quickly, saved me some money, and even told me how I can keep track of my expenses so that I can do better on my taxes next year. I’ll definitely go back to Rus next year, provided I have not died by then."
--Dan Mirk, The Onion News Network and freelance writer
"Last year I went from fully employed to unemployed to temporarily employed on freelance jobs, so I had no idea what that meant for me and my taxes. Luckily, Rus did. He was so easy to talk to – I hate talking about money, especially when I don’t have any… but he made me feel super comfortable discussing what made the most sense for me in my unique situation. I didn’t feel rushed or like I was just a number. Instead it was like “oh yeah IRS? You want me to do my taxes? Fine! But I’m going to do it with a friend and have so much fun that I forget that it’s not supposed to be any fun, traditionally.”
