Description:
Welcome to the 2010 BBCF’s Long-Form Intensive hosted by Tim Orr and Regina Saisi of the Improv Playhouse of San Francisco - The best, most in-depth, quality Long-Form education that 4 days can offer. This intensive focuses on the core elements that make San Francisco-style Long-Form successful - ensemble, narrative, acting, and genre/characters - and culminates in a performance with the instructors. Explore San Francisco's unique style of sustained, improvised narratives while working with these master coaches on professional vocal and physical stage techniques. This intensive is for improvisers who have performing experience, have at least some Long-Form experience, and want to step their play up to the next level. The Long-Form Intensive curriculum is designed by Tim Orr.
Class Time/Dates:
MON 9/13-THU 9/16 from 9am-6pm
Performance Time/Dates:
THU 9/16-SAT 9/18 from 8-8:30pm
Schedule:
Four 8hr class sessions. Three 25min performances. One performance per student.
* Attendance to all four days of class is mandatory for all students.
* Students will be broken up into 3 groups. Each group will perform once with the instructors.

Improv training and performance experience

INSTRUCTORS
Tim Orr
Tim has improvised since 1988 with many San Francisco-based groups, including
BATS Improv, Rafe Chase's groundbreaking longform troupe
Improv Theatre, the renowned
True Fiction Magazine, and with the acclaimed troupe
3 For All. In 2009, he founded a new improv group, the
Improv Playhouse of San Francisco. He has appeared in numerous plays in the San Francisco Bay Area, and received critical acclaim for his leading roles in the improvised feature films,
Suckerfish and Security. With Stephen Kearin, Tim co-wrote, and originated the role of
Dirk Manly in, An Evening with Dirk & Blaine. Tim has performed (and taught) improvisation at the American Conservatory Theatre, BATS Improv, Stanford University, and many other venues nationally (Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Austin, Louisville, Atlanta, etc.) and internationally (Amsterdam, Beirut, Helsinki, Leuven, London, Paris, Stockholm). He is currently the Director of the BATS Improv Long-Form Intensive.
Regina Saisi
Regina Saisi has been a professional actor/improvisor and teacher for 25 years. Her theatrical experience includes work with such directors as Maria Irene Fornes, Jose Rivera, Darrah Cloud and Gary Leon Hill. The focus of her work throughout her career has been improvisational theatre. She has been deeply involved in the fertile San Francisco improvisation community, helping to start several improv companies including
Riot Squad,
Improv Theatre,
Pulp Playhouse, and her current company
True Fiction Magazine. She is currently the Dean of the
BATS School of Improv.
