Oh I can totally help with the lights! Also I have complete access to every tool ever created. [I think I do anyway, but I'd have to check with the man of the house]

Can we do something this Saturday?

the space is busy, and there are usually classes in the space on the weekend afternoons, and weekend nights shows go late. after cagematch or hump night is usually a good time to do stuff, though. after assssscat also works if no one has the space for rehersal.
right, so far we've got the beginning of a lights group and the beginning of a carpentry group. carpenters should probably get in contact with billy to see what he's got in mind. i'm happy to be the contact person for the lights group. you can pm, email or reply to the thread.
what else needs doing?

Here is a list that may also help:

If you smoke - ash in a tray, put the butt in a trashcan. (floor is not an ashtray)
If you drink something - put the can/bottle in the trash.
If you spill something - clean it up.
If you eat food - what you don't eat - put in the trash.

Its a big theatre - there is only so much an intern/manager can do. And so much more the community can do.

If you see something do something!

Simple steps make things simple.

I love screwguns

I've helped build a few sets for shows before. While I'm not the one to look to for design (though I know someone who is), once I have the measurements and materials in front of me, I can get to working.

I'll admit, I have little skill in the area of carpentry and my experience with lighting equipment ranges from putting lightbulbs in lamps to removing lightbulbs from lamps. That being said, I am willing and ready to do whatever I can. I'll paint, I'll carpenter (new word I made up), and I clean like a motherfucker. No joke.

Oh, and listen to Shannon. She's wicked smart.

What Shannon said.

I'm more than happy to help out whenever and wherever I can. I don't have a lot of technical knowledge (electrical, carpentry) but I can help organize, research, draw up specs and requirements, contribute manual labor... or just stand in the corner out of harm's way and cheer everyone else on.

Funny, I was just thinking the other day how nice it would be if everyone who smokes would at least use an ashtray (myself included). So to that end, I will be bringing a bunch of ashtrays that I don't use anymore to the theater. I will put them in the green room and Chill out room. Please use them!

My Dream Rule:

No smoking in Green Room.

I know its totes a dream - but that is where my props used to live - till they died of cancer or smoke abuse.

Its a dream I know.

I have no skills, but I can stay up late. Is there any nasty-ass cleaning that needs to be done?

Those Third Degree (School Night) desks -- someone should take a picture of them, frame it and hang it in the green room as "most used props ever." Either Curtis Gwinn or Pete Bosniak built them.

Hey guys - it's Anthony King and it's my second day working at the UCB Theater.

What a dump, right?

It's really exciting people want to do something about it and I hope everyone will pitch in.

Alex and I found a good time to do it:

SUNDAY, JANUARY 16TH
1:00p-3:00p

Carpentry Stuff and Building in the Chill-Out Room
(but quietly - there's a class in the theater)

3:00p-7:00p
Massive Cleaning of the Theater, Green Room, and Chill-Out Room

Come by and help make the theater better!
The UCB will provide the beer and pizza! For free!

-Anthony
