for those of you who have heard nothing about this project, here's the simple rundown:

The AV Club Presents: A Guide To Modern Living
Saturdays at midnight on the IO West Mainstage, FREE

every show is a 100% improvised and live educational TV show. We take an audience-suggested topic and using greenscreen, remote cameras, a shitload of computers, 2 projectors, and a bunch of talented folks, we create a live show vaguely reminiscent of 3-2-1 contact and square one. only weirder.

cast: nick armstrong, randi barnes, colton dunn, scott gimple, summer herrick, dave holmes, lindsey stidham, and julia wackenheim.

crew: andy cochrane, chris ellerby, woody drennan, marie lively, sean cowhig, sam haber.

come see the insanity. spread the word. www.theavclub.tv

Last Saturday you would have learned about "Sex and You" from a newlywed couple, the properitor of a musket company, Chicken and Biscuts, Artic Explorers at Base Station and the tender relationship of a daughter and her deceased hooker mom.

come see the show every saturday night at midnight this month, free at i.o.

we added chris mosier and kevin ford to our cast, and they rock balls.

the show last week was great!

this show is really fun to do, and the format we have developed is really rewarding, especially when the tech and the improv come together perfectly. the thing i really like about it is that it is like 2 improv performances at the same time- the actors are improvising scenes while we improvise lighting, sound, images, text, camera angles, music, and editing around them. its really cool at this point, because everyone has gotten comfortable enough with their roles that the show feels just like a harold does to me: you do your part and everyone plays off each other.

its so cool to see some of the completely unplanned things that have happened in rehearsals and shows that are the result of 5 or 6 people making snap decisions on their own that come together perfectly. check out the images on the web site's photo gallery: www.theavclub.tv my favorite example so far was a scene that occurred between colton dunn and lindsey stidham where she was on the greenscreen backstage and he was on stage- everything just came together perfectly.

come see the show- some really kick ass stuff has been happening.

That's great! But I meant, houses. Isn't it a tough spot for filling the house? What have your audiences been like?

houses have been been small. but it works well for us as the show is still growing. Last week was real fun and I think we've just about landed the format. come by and check it out.
