Interactive Performance: Workshop & Casting
Explore a new form of dramatic improvisation where the audience is the star
I have been an improviser for nine years and am struck by the unique depth and meaning created through this form; it has redefined for me what is possible in improv.
- Amanda Miller, inter-actor
Like acting on a high wire, this work demands of me more energy, focus, and sheer faith than any other kind of performance. Onstage with this technique, I feel all of my self is engaged in an act of performance but also of compassion and generosity, such that I feel whole and also egoless.
- Sarah-Doe Osborne, inter-actor

This is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in the theater.
- Ben Kawaller, spect-actor
It was both extraordinarily complicated and wickedly simple - the experience of acting without lines has never felt so emotionally satisfying.
- Ryan McCurdy, spect-actor
About Playing With Reality
This style of interactive performance was developed by Jeff Wirth at University of Central Florida’s Interactive Performance Lab. Playing With Reality was founded by former lab member, Shea Elmore, through a similar workshop to the one currently offered.
The company’s successful debut, THIS IS STORYBOX, led to a residency at the new Canal Park Playhouse. Shea also performed a solo show in Amsterdam in the fall, The Choices We Make.
The group continues to develop the forms of StoryBox and SimuLife while creating interactive tools that are useful to an individual artist as well as a growing corporation.
