*** AUDITION NOTICE ***
Auditions will be held next Wednesday and Thursday for Philadelphia’s newest longform improv group: HellBaby
We are seeking high energy and fearless individuals to join us in forming a very different type of improv group: Improv Tragedy. Inspired by the steps taken by predecessors HARSH and Revolving Madness, HellBaby will explore the other side of improv… the moments of pain, hurt, anguish, anger and strife. We will delve into the most vulnerable recesses of our improv, and have honest and visceral scenes made from reacting to emotionally intense situations.
For those that think that longform improv should be funny and full of hijinks, this is not the group for you. For those that want to explore the range of human emotion, whatever that may entail, then this may be something you want to check out. Although we do not intend for this to be humorous, that, among many reactions may arise in the process of discovering the scene. If you want to get a better idea of what we are looking to do… here is an interesting article you may want to check out: http://www.yesand.com/articles/index.php?ArticleID=90
We realize this will be a very different take on improv for local audiences. They may sympathize, grieve, become morose, laugh, cry, love us or hate us. Our goal is to connect with ourselves and the audience on a raw, emotional level, whatever that may be.
So for those of you that find this interesting, and want to explore that grey area with us, we invite you to come to the Ethical Society next week. We hope to see you there!
Auditions for HellBaby
Wednesday, Jan 25th at 7:30pm
And
Thursday, Jan 26th at 7:30pm
Basement of the Philadelphia Ethical Society
1906 Rittenhouse Square, Phila, PA
