I used Movers Not Shakers four times, and had three great experiences and one terrible one. Most recently, one of the guys opened my gig bag and started playing my guitar. I confronted him, told him to stop, and reported him to the head mover, and for the rest of the move, the entire crew riduculed me every time I took a look at what they were doing. Like, to my face. They also broke my dresser and denied it. So apparently they've gone downhill since 2003. Go with Allied.

I've decided to save myself the stress and hire movers, but I don't know which one. Anyone have any experience with using one?

Thanks!

moveyourway.com was great. I moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn on a Saturday morning. The guys (3 of them) showed up (early) and quickly moved all my stuff. Then they quickly moved it into my new apartment in an hour. The whole thing was around $264 not including tip. There's a 3 hour minimum at 80-85$ an hour or so. I don't know if that's cheap, but they did everything really quickly so I didn't have to pay extra. I only had a 1 bedroom studio situation, so I paid for more than I needed, but it's nice to know that if I had more it would still cost the same (if I ever have the means to actually buy a couch).

This sounds like a really horrible experience, but I can't help but guiltily feel like it'd make a great sketch.
