(PHILADELPHIA, JUNE 2010)—The Philly Improv Theater is extremely excited to announce that submissions are now open for the first annual DUOFEST!
What is Duofest, you ask? Quite simply, it’s a whole festival built around 2-person improv. DUOFEST 2010 seeks to showcase the finest in two-person long form improvisation that the universe has to offer. We’re seeking submissions from all over the country and world in order to build a weekend centered around dynamic improvisational diads.
Duo’s have had it a bit rough—the difficulty of drawing a crowd when there’s only two people, the demands of larger groups on performers’ time, and the general reluctance of theaters and other venues to book all but the absolute best duos have made it hard to celebrate these pairings.
This fall, Philly Improv Theater will change all that with Duofest 2010. Over 4 days, we’ll present 30 groups that have just 2 members. There will be acts from across the country and workshops geared specifically to the unique challenges of performing with just one partner. There will also be an excited audience, incredible headliners, and great parties to build camaraderie between duos.
DUOFEST will take place from September 30th-October 3rd at the lovely Shubin Theater in the City of Duo-ly Love, Philadelphia.
