Adopting a Cat

Sorry to inject an uncool note of non-sarcasm into the thread, but... is it really so weird to bring up the fact that it's traumatic to your cats to give them away? Pets are a reponsibility that is not always convenient. Shelters are filled with cats that were put there because they didn't act as the owners wanted them to; and most of those cats do, in fact, get euthanized.
On the other hand, none of us know Adam's story besides what he's told us. He's trying to find his cats (or someone's cats) a home, and he is willing to do what he can to ease the transition. Those of us who know Adam are of course going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
This was a thread asking for help and people at the beginning of the thread were offering advice, which Adam appeared to ignore. I think, understandably, some people get upset thinking that someone is ready to give up an old pet (possibly to a shelter though that isn't their first choice) because of a new one, and Maddy is never one to let diplomacy get in the way of her righteous venom. But to make this into a hysterical IRC vs. too-cool-for-compassion UCB thread is a bit simplistic.
And now I'll shut up so we can get back to the sarcasm, name-calling and dead cat jokes.

I agree that we should have a fair, rational discussion about the very important issue of Pally's cats.
This is too weighty a matter to let petty name-calling and bitter factionalism get in the way of progress.
Now, we're all adults here, and I'm sure we can all articulate our feelings on the Pally's cats issue (or "Pallyscatsgate") in a logical, articulate matter.

Jeffe is right, I ignored the positive advice that was being offered by the IRC. Truthfully, I was busy UCB'ing it, and wasn't reading the posts, I was just responding without thinking.
But, I did slow down and read them, and I have to say...

Honestly, I was kind of hoping that no one would adopt them so that Spo could drive over them with her car while Hal fucked em both in their stupid, ugly, black gummed cat mouths.
But Jeffe, today, you saved two feline lives, please tell me what corner you live on so I can slow the car down to 70 and throw them out in front of it.
But I will pull the car to a stop to drop off the free six months of litter and food, I dont want that splattering all over the street like the cats will.
You got yoursleves two great cats!!! And made a real strong point on a message board!!! EVERYBODY WINS... ME, MY AWESOME DOG, THE IRC, AND THESE BULLSHIT FUCKING CATS.
P.s. -- I poked one of the cats eyes out just for fun... it wasnt that fun, but watching it walk around in a circle half blind makes it all worth it.

I agree with Jeff. When I was getting divorced from my first wife and I posted on this message board asking if anyone had an extra room I could rent because I was moving out of our apartment, it was really helpful that no one offerred a room, but that everyone gave me advice to stay and work on my marriage instead.
It made me feel good that so many people felt comfortable enough to make such huge assumptions about my life, and to (correctly!) assume that I had not already considered other options.
If only I had listened. Because I chose to ignore the IRC, just like APally is now, my ex-wife lost an eye and Hal repeatedly fucked her in the mouth.
Is this thread hostile and filled with personal attacks? I missed those posts. I'm also not sure who the "us" and "them" are in this thread (unless you mean APally vs. civilized society).
