Adopt A Kitten...with AIDS!

#1
Seriously. We have rescued (among others) a very sweet little black & white kitten from the mean streets of NYC last night. After taking her to the vet to have her examined, we discovered that she is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) positive.

After discussion with our vet, we found that most FIV+ cats lead normal and healthy lives, though obviously it is more difficult for them to fight off illnesses. The ideal situation for this adorable kitten would be to be the only cat in the household and to remain and indoor cat (the ASPCA recommends that all cats be indoor cats in the city, anyway).

Now, we're not trying to candycoat this issue at all. It's not as bad as it might initially sound to have an FIV+ cat, but there are certain factors to consider before adopting one. So please do your research to make sure you're comfortable.

This kitten is amazingly social and loveable and actually more comfortable on your lap or in your arms than on the floor. Want proof? Here:

Thanks and please PM or email if you're interested.

PS: In case anyone was curious, people can't get FIV. Even cats can only get it through bites involving an infected cat, unprotected sex or sharing needles.
