Actor's Manager, Jamie Baker- anyone know anything about this guy?

You're obligated to pay them whatever you sign to pay them. Normally, a manager is going to charge 10-15% of your check. The only weird thing about managers vs. agents is that they're not supposed to actually secure you work, i.e. send you out on auditions. That's what an agent is supposed to do. Nevertheless, every manager in the world still does it. The "rules," which seem to be enforced by nobody, are very fuzzy. Is the manager sending you out, or did he hook you up with an agent?

Never heard of ol' Jamie, though. But that doesn't mean much, because I don't know shit. If you go to Drama Books, you can drop $15 or so for a Henderson's guide to managers in the area. Could give you a tiny bit of insight.

Jaime Baker is a weasel. I sublet his apartment in Queens for about eight months and I moved out early because the place was falling apart and he wouldn't fix anything. He also told me the studio was $609, then called me the next day and said he decided that he was going to charge $709 so he could make more money off of it. So I said, "Well why not call it $700 even?" And he said "I'm sorry, I can't negotiate on this." So he strikes me as being bad at business. Also, he name dropped a bunch of people at UCB as his clients, and when I asked them none of them were actually signed with him (one had freelanced with him ONCE, and the other had just met with him ONCE).

That being said, while I would not recommend signing with him, I don't know if there is any harm is freelancing.

But don't trust him. Seriously. I know this dude. He is not nice. And he is small potatoes.

Stay away.

I did an industrial a few years ago and for some reason I had to be paid through his company. I had to scream and fight to get my remaining $300.

He also may be the same crappy manager who takes meetings in broom closets. And that is not a bit.

Nope, he's not the broom closet guy. But the broom closet guy is real. Still not a bit. Unless there are two broom closet guys!
