Casting Notice:
Gail Thacker and the Gene Frankel Theatre in conjunction with the City Actors Theatre Company Present The Shotgun Theatre Festival: A Series of Spontaneous Artistic Collaboration. Currently, we are seeking actors, directors, playwrights, stage managers, technicians, and volunteers of any sort. This is an exciting opportunity with great potential for growth in the future. Festival dates are either January 8,9,10, and 18 or January 15,16,17, and 18th. The concept is an innovative one. We get directors, actors, and playwrights in a room one night and over the course of a weekend,WRITE,REHEARSAL AND PERFORM fourteen ten minute plays IF FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE. These plays compete for audience votes to appear again on the final day of the festival. On that day, audience votes, and an esteemed panel of judges will select a winning production. That group of people will be awarded a rent free weekend at the Gene Frankel Theatre to produce a full length version of the mini play created. We hope to bring artists together and give them an opportunity to meet other people in the business as well as show off their skills. Participation is free and there is no audition necessary. Please send questions and submissions to shotguntheatre@yahoo.com. Beginning January 2, 2009, please feel free to stop by the theatre between the hours of 3-7 M-F to submit in person and take a look around (the Gene Frankel Theatre is located at 24 Bond Street between Lafayette and Bowery). Please include headshot (for actors), resume, and a short cover letter telling us a little bit about yourself. This is a non equity contract.
