A Very Special Videographer needed

#1
Hi Guys,
A Very Special Sketch Show would love to talk to you about possibly videotaping a few of our shows. We're a fun, easygoing crew, and would love to tape our Fringe Festival performances for all time.

We can, at the very least, buy you a really sweet dinner, maybe more?

Seriously our show is really strong, and it's directed by Jackie Clark! How wrong can you go?

Here's the blurb:
A Very Special Sketch Show
Part of the New York International Fringe Festival, A Very Special Sketch Show is a television parody show, complete with bouncy credit sequences and heartwarming theme songs. It's ready to educate a whole new audience on the facts of life. Remember the "Very Special Episodes" of 80s sitcoms? Relive the Nancy Reagan era with four original sketches that tackle the tough issues.

What do you guys want to do with the video, Dave? Are you looking for a single camera, set up at the back of the room? Do you want a multi-camera shoot with post production?

We'd be happy with a single camera at the back of the room. Just something nice, clean and relatively painless. As for editing, I'm not sure how much post-production might be needed, maybe not much at all.

What do you think?

(Although multiple cameras has appeal, as we're doing a TV sitcom parody. But that's *much* more work, and probably not practical. Inother words, we're not hung up on multiple cameras.)

Thanks,
Dave

I think that when done with some care, single camera shoots of live performances can come out very nice. It can still look professional without having to be complicated.

Prioritze the camera's sightline; don't just stick it at the back of the room.

Use a camera with as large CCDs as you can get your hands on. Find that tricky balance between staying wide enough to get the action but close enough to see the faces well.

Instruct your lighting designer to decrease the contrast of his lighting- since you're shooting live, the camera person can't accurately expose for the various light levels of theatrical lighting. Since this is a pardoy sitcom, flood the stage with even, bright light.

Hello,
We still really need a videographer for at least one of our shows.

If you have any questions about this please get in touch.

I think we can work something out.
