Okay NYC-

Anyone have a suggestion for a great scene for two women. My scene partner and I have been searching madly... film, tv, theater... We are both in our early 30's.

Thanks!

I highly recomend the first scene in the second act of Hot, Horny Nurses in Heat Pt. VI. If you have not seen it yet, as James Lipton would say, "go.out.and.rent.it.you.will.be.glad.you.did!"

But seriously, how about a scene from a mushy-chick flick like Steel Magnolia's, Terms of Endearment, Thelma & Louise or Ya-Ya Sisterhood?

The Drama Book Shop

Try rummaging around in there. 40th and 8th.

I would look at plays or scenes by these playwrights:

Sam Shepard, Marsha Norman, DOnald Margulies, Wallace Shawn, and Paula Vogel.

Rock.

I second Proof- the scenes between Catherine and Claire are great, especially the one at the end ("I want a doctor named Dr. Von Heimlich. Please find one.")
Also A Girl's Guide to Chaos, Extremities, Betty's Summer Vacation.

Plays just off the top of me head:

'Night, Mother
Angels in America (a few good scenes between 2 female characters in both plays)
The Tale of the Alergist's Wife
Twelve Night (girl dressed like her brother and the girl in love w/ the brother)

As for films:

Either Woody Allen film: Interiors, Hannah and her Sisters
Girl, Interrupted (if you wanna go the bravado route)
White Oleander
Thelma and Louise

My acting class was just talking about a great play with monologues and scenes for women called "Four dogs and a Bone" by I think someone named Shenley.

"Four Dogs and a Bone" by John Patrick Shanley. I was in a small production of this on a Greek Island. Good times. There's a perfect scene for class, a stand off between a seasoned actress and an ingenue.

Shanley is currently helping youngsters workshop stuff at the Public. It's only $15.
