DSI has scheduled the 3rd Annual 24live for September 24th - 25th, 2004. The marathon has been fortunate enough to raise money over the past two years for both The Inter-Faith Council and The Women's Center of Chapel Hill. We are currently looking at various charities including: WCOM (Carrboro's new community radio station), The Inter-Faith Council, local drama programs (including Cedar Ridge), and a few other possible organizations.

THE EVENT
24live pushes performers to the limit with DSI's 24-hour Benefit Marathon of Improv Comedy. A small core cast draws support from DSI house teams, guest ensembles, professional comedians and local celebrities as they press on thru 24 straight hours of improv. The 3rd Annual 24live will begin at 9pm on Friday September 24th and will highlight some of the most inspired improvisation the nation has to offer non-stop until 9pm on Saturday September 25th. CORE cast members should receive invitations by email no later than July 22nd.

CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS
If you feel strongly about a charity that DSI should support, please send detailed information to zach@dirtysouthimprov.com (please include info about the charity, and phone/email/web information for yourself and the organization contact).

VOLUNTEERS
DSI will be looking for help securing local sponsors as soon as August 3rd and promoting this event in and around the Triangle over the 6 weeks leading up to the Marathon. We will also need site support during the 24 hour event, production support details will be posted soon. If you are interested in volunteering, please email zach@dirtysouthimprov.com with you full name, phone number, and the specific skill that you might bring to a volunteer position (ie: graphic design, phone sales, spreadsheet organization, you know people, etc).

Check back for regular 24live updates.

Thank you.

Love,

Ross White - Artistic Director

24 Update

We have updated the website and are looking to push forward with plans for 24live - Rocking Carolina in less than 3 weeks!

BENEFACTORS - WCOM 103.5, www.communityradio.coop, Carrboro's Volunteer-Powered Radio Station & TIKUN OLAM, an organization led by Vivian Olkin, which aims to "repair the world" through project-based outreach. Tikun Olam will first be looking to provide Thanksgiving dinner for local families in need.

TICKETS - http://ticketweb.com/user/?query=search&region=xxx&category=misc&search=24live

DONATIONS - http://dirtysouthimprov.com/24live (use paypal)

SPONSORS - We are looking to find local businesses who can provide coffee, water, and hospitality items for performers during the event. We have been lucky to lock down Red Bull for the event the past two years (which we are working on now), but ALL the support we can get would be wonderful. Thanks to Zack Bly, etc for you advance work in this area.

VOLUNTEERS - DSI will be posting a separate thread in the next 4-5 business days (sound professional?) with specific volunteer needs for the actual event and a schedule for Advertising and Marketing throughout the Chapel Hill & Carrboro communities and DORM STORM'ing at Carolina. Meanwhile, tell everyone you know that DSI's 24live has begun its approach!

Thanks for your help in supporting an awesome event that will raise both awareness and (hopefully significant) monetary donations for two very worthy local organizations.

Sincerely,
Zach Ward

DSI FUNDRAISER - Challenge!

We are really looking to turn this year's 24LIVE into the biggest fundraiser we have had yet. DSI Theater would like to issue the following challenge to all of our students, fans and DSI House team members:

RAISE MONEY FOR 24LIVE

The person who raises the most money for the event by Saturday September 25th @ 6pm will be awarded two (2) Level 1 scholarships to give away and will receive one (1) unlimited personal scholarship to all DSI classes* until September 2005.

Minimum: $150
Payment: Check, Cash or Paypal ( zach@dirtysouthimprov.com )

You can simply donate yourself (which you can do on the 24live homepage, wink wink) and you can organize family, friends, and co-workers to donate through you. Would your parents and/or children want to help local families have Thanksgiving? Ask 'em.

Email with questions or comments.

*Does not include DSIF festival workshops or intensive workshops. You WILL receive an unlimited scholarship and preferred admission to DSI core classes: Level 1, 2, 3L, 3S, 4

Volunteers

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Email info@dirtysouthimprov.com with "24 VOLUNTEER" in the subject line. If you're responding to something with multiple shifts available, let me know ALL shifts you could be available for.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

1. ADVERTISING: We will be DORM STORMING (Flyers, Smiles, and High-Fives) on Sunday night at 9pm for South campus dorms and campus buildings on Tuesday after the Skylight shows.

1b. ADVERTISING: UNC students, we will be flyering during class changes everyday next week rain or shine at Lenoir and the Student Union. Are you available to help?

2. PROGRAM LAYOUT: We need someone who can layout a simple program for the event. It would take an initial meeting no later than Monday for transfer of logos, information and simple expectations and then a final check no later than Wednesday evening (in case any changes need to be made by Thursday night for printing).

3. TRUCK & HANDS: We have secured the stage and lighting talents of Company Carolina again for 24LIVE. We need to help them load-in and load-out from the ArtsCenter in Carrboro to Hamilton Hall on Friday late afternoon (maybe 5pm) and return on Sunday afternoon.

4. GREEN ROOM STAFF: We need a 2-3 people to create and maintain the 24live greenroom for Hamilton 150. We have secured Red Bull, working on Weaver Street, etc. You would be asked to help make Hamilton 150 the most comfortable place possible for staff and performers. If you would like to help here I can help you with more specific ideas: lamps, dorm fridge, PS2, area rugs, television for PS2.

5. HOUSE MANAGERS: We will need HMs to fill 6 shifts during the course of the event. You will report to Ross White and myself. All Box Office Volunteers are under your direct supervision during your shift. The shifts: Friday 730pm - 12am, 1130pm - 4am, 330am - 8am, 730am - 12noon, 1130am - 5pm, 430pm - 9pm.

6. BOX OFFICE / USHERS: We will need staff for the 6 door shifts during the course of the event. You will report directly to the House Manager on duty. You are the face of the event to customers buying tickets. The shifts: 730pm - 12am (4), 1130pm - 4am (2), 330am - 8am (1), 730am - 12noon (1), 1130am - 5pm (2), 430pm - 9pm (4)

7. DAY OF UNC FOOTBALL GAME PROMOTION TEAM: There has been a Carolina game scheduled for the day of 24LIVE. We would like to have a team of DSI volunteers promote the event with flyers, high-fives and smiles on Stadium Drive before, during and after the game.

8. ANYTHING ELSE, Ross?:
