This winter, the Magnet Theater is bringing back its ever so popular 2-week Intensive with Mark Grenier and Armando Diaz. Complete 2 Levels in 2 weeks time! Usually, that would be a 16-week (4-month) process!

The Intensive runs for two weeks, Monday through Friday, 10am-4pm, with an hour-long break for lunch. Classes start January 10th, 2011 and culminate with a class show on Saturday, January 22nd at 8pm.

Cost for the class is a ridiculously affordable $399! (full price Levels 1 + 2 separately would be $598!)

Instructor: Armando Diaz
Armando is widely regarded as one of the best improv teachers in New York City and beyond. His list of teaching credits is a long one: the ImprovOlympic Theater, Victory Gardens Theater, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, The Peoples Improv Theater, and Michael Howard Studios. He has trained dozens of actors who have performed or written for Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Mad TV, and The Daily Show.
A Chicago native, Armando studied improv under Del Close at the ImprovOlympic, Mick Napier at the Annoyance, and graduated from the Second City Conservatory. He performed in and helped create one of the most popular improvised longforms in Chicago, "The Armando Diaz Experience...." For the last decade, "the Armando" has been performed weekly in Chicago, and is now taught and performed in many other cities including Los Angeles and New York.

In addition to writing and producing short films, Armando wrote sketches for the show Upright Citizens Brigade on Comedy Central, and has performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Armando lives in Manhattan with like, nine roommates.

Instructor: Mark Grenier
Mark Grenier is the Training Center Director and an improv instructor at Magnet Theater in New York City. He is also the Artistic Director of Shoot From The Hip, an improvisational filmmaking program associated with the Catskill Mountain Foundation. Mark has taught improv at Fairfield University, Marymount Manhattan College, The Peoples Improv Theater, Polaris North Theater Company, and Stand Up Showcase. He has conducted training workshops for The Fulbright Association and at improv festivals around the country. Mark has studied improv extensively with Armando Diaz. He has also studied with Mick Napier at the Annoyance Theater in Chicago and with many other instructors from Annoyance, I.O., Second City, and The Upright Citizens Brigade. Mark has studied film at Brooklyn College and acting at The Atlantic Theater Company. He currently performs with his three-person improv group, Theory of Everything, on Saturday nights at Magnet Theater.
