i used to live there, and i mainly miss the food.
if you like chicken, there's a cuban place where you must have the pollo asado. versailles. there's one on motor and venice, and one near pico and la cienega.
tito's tacos is good shit too. washington place and sepulveda in culver city.
oh, and like the above post, hit an in'n'out.

Ditto. Drive down PCH and after you pass Malibu, pull over at a beach. Not a "public" one, like Zuma, but just like, right off PCH. Pick your way down the "cliff" to the patch of beach. It's like something out of a movie.

See a movie at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Have a cocktail at the Japanese restaurant above Franklin, anyone know the name? I've never been there but I've heard from many people that the view is spectacular.
Eat at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles on Gower between Sunset and Hollywood(closer to Sunset). Chicken is the best I've ever had, and waffles...who doesn't like waffles?
They've got some down home sides as well.
Not expensive.

So Mo, don't do the dinner package, if you should be able to go (and you only can if you know a magician who is a member and they "invite" you).
I think I was there on a bad night. It was near Christmas and the place was mostly bought out by one group. So it was hard to get in to see any show. They kept taking up all the stages. And we couldn't even go downstairs at all.
So we saw our friend, had a couple drinks, walked around, and left.
I was unimpressed, I must say.
Then again, I'm always disillusioned by magic. I want it to be REAL magic. When it's not, I'm disappointed.

However, if it's anywhere near as hot then, as it is now, I'd whole heartedly advise you to spend more time closer to the ocean if not IN it.
That leads us back to PCH and wild beaches, as well as Venice beach and Santa Monica Pier. Though, I'm really not a pier fan. Of the two I'd say Venice Beach.
