Default Thank you, Brian Stack!

Before you and the family tranfer to La-la-land, I just wanted to say thank you for getting me into the Pogues! I can't believe I completely missed them the first time around!

Next?

Brian, you've always been a gentleman and a scholar of the highest order. Your taste in music is impeccable, and I can't say how much I appreciate (and attempt, occasionally, to emulate) your eloquence and support on these boards. I wish you nothing but the best, sir.

(I hadn't planned on posting the "I have Dunford on ignore" joke again just yet, but he kinda said everything I was gonna... although I will happily take my Wilco-backstage-at-Conan experience to the grave)

May you and the entire brood find warmth and happiness on the other side of America.

Thanks for having been in Jazz Freddy and showing me how good improv can be. Also thanks for liking both classic rock and that indie stuff and showing me they're not mutually exclusive.

Wow, thanks a lot, guys. Your very kind words mean a lot to me.

We'll see how it goes out in LA. At least we'll have plenty of ex-Chicagoans and ex-New Yorkers to keep us company.

Thanks again! All the best to you as well!

Brian

Wait, who says we're finished thanking you, Sir?

Thank you for being one of the folks who kept the fabulous Hot Spot thread going for so long. And for being a lovely fella.

Thank you, Brian Stack, for showing you don't have to be a crazy self-destructive jerk to be successful in the comedy business. You are so funny, and so smart, and so nice, and you have excellent (i.e. identical to mine) taste in music, and I feel like I am writing in your yearbook.

You once made a Pliny the Elder reference on stage, and it was completely natural and easy, and for just that, I will love you forever and ever.

Have fun out there!

Brian once came into my work and Dave & Busters and I was very excited about this because he is my favorite improviser. I told him this fact and he gave me his contact info and told me if I ever wanted tickets to Conan to just email or call him. My only regret was not taking him up on this offer. This proves the long standing theory that he is the nicest person in the world. Good luck Brian, you will be missed by all.

Jessica, No Face, Mr. Hawkins, and Alan,

Thank you very much as well. I appreciate what you wrote more than I can say.

-Brian

P.S. Alan, that was the one and only time I've ever been in a Dave & Buster's so I was lucky to run into you that day. My daughter Nora was there for a birthday party if you'll recall. That's too bad you were never able to come to a "Late Night" taping. Maybe you can make it to a "Tonight Show" taping in LA sometime.

"P.S. II: The Hunt for Curly's Gold": There are a couple of surprise guests appearing on "Conan" tonight for anyone interested, one of whom has been a big hero of mine since I first saw him doing improv in Chicago back in the late 80's. Watch for him during Conan's monologue if you're actually watching in the first place.

Thanks again, everybody!

Brian

Also, thank you on behalf of my friend Lucinda, for being her favorite Conan cast member. She was thrilled to hear that you're such a nice guy. So also, thank you for being a good showbiz ambassador.

Is it bad form to thank someone for something on another forum? Oh well. Thank you, Brian, for the Q&A thread on AST (may it rest in peace).

Nick,
Thanks for doing such a great job editing that sketch. That's without a doubt one of the darkest (maybe even THE darkest) sketch I've ever been involved with, but I loved doing it. I think "Human Giant" was such a consistently original and hilarious show. I wish there had been a third season, but you should all be really proud of those brilliant two seasons you produced. I was honored to be even a small part of it, even if that sketch got you some angry mail.

icouldbewrong,
Please thank your friend Lucinda for me.

Matt N,
Thanks to you, too, sir. I hope to do at least one more ASSSSCAT in NYC before I head out to LA in late March.

Sharilyn,
It means a lot to me that you liked that Q&A on ASpecialThing.com, thanks very much. I had a great time doing that, and it's shame they lost so many of the old Q&A's when their server crashed. I loved reading a lot of those myself, especially Patton's and Dino's.

You are as kind and generous a person as i could ever hope to work with. I hope i treat others as warmly as you've treated me whenever we've worked together.

Also when we were on set i let out a huge fart and blamed it on you. A couple times.

Brian,

Thanks for being my favorite improviser ever and for being the nicest person in the world when we've talked online. I promise to once again shout your name out during a Pogues show this year so that you're seeing them in spirit.

You are, in all seriousness, the nicest person I have come in contact with. Thank you for remembering everyone's name, for being so thoughtful, for every show you've done, and for allowing me to fulfill a dream of mine. I can say I saw Late Night live in Jan 2009, and I'll always be thankful for that.

You continue to succeed in comedy while being a fantastic person with a wonderful family, and that gives me hope.

I know you will do well in LA. Good luck to you, sir.

Brian, thank you for being the reason for me to make my favorite joke of all time, which was to tell people that you are actually a big mean jerk, using my "i'm from chicago" insider knowledge. In fact I might have even shook my head from side to side and said, "no. seriously. he's a total asshole." It was so fun to see people try to make sense of what so clearly did not jive with their experience.

It was also fun to see New Yorkers try to make sense of someone who is so purely good and smart and interested in what you have to say. And, also funnier than anyone else!

Well, let's just hope they have the internet in LA!
